The 2025 band of the year, Sechuns (pronounced Sections) has unveiled Roots- A Journey Back to the Motherland.
The collection features four sections for Tuesday and an additional suiting for Monday wear inspired by the Motherland.
Maasai
Clearly, Antiguans have been deeply inspired by the Maasai people as this is the second band to have a section named after the nomadic people this year. Myst too has a Maasai collection. Maasai is Sechun’s boldest and most colourful offering. Red and blue mingled with yellow and detailed bedazzling make Maasai a beautiful option for people who want to stand out.
Jewels of the Nile
The costumes in Jewels of the Nile match the name with purple being the main colour complemented by blue and pink. This section looks regal, featuring peacock feathers on the backpiece which suggests, this is a costume to be worn with pride.
Serengeti
Think of the endless plains of Tanzania and you get Serengeti. This costume has little touches of yellow and purple to make the green even more attractive. Serengeti will look great on any skin tone and is an all-around beautiful design.
Sahara
Sahara is hands down our favourite costume. The beautiful earth tones make it easy on the eyes, it’s nothing too glaring but at the same time, it’s a true eyecatcher. The many feathers on the backpiece of the frontline option also make it appear lush and luxurious.
Kush
This is the Monday wear option which we absolutely love. The beading is beautiful and we would recommend adding some creative- looking face paint to further complement this look. Our only concern is the shorts for the men don’t look too supportive.
