As 2026 approaches, many of us are looking forward to partying in the new year as the clock strikes midnight—officially shaking off the shackles of 2025 and embracing the challenges and opportunities a fresh year brings.
But before we take that step forward, it’s only right to reflect on what truly earned the title of Best Fete of 2025—clearly excluding any events scheduled for December 31st.
That title goes to none other than Soca Sangria.
Let’s just call it “The Fete of Fetes” or even “One Fete to Rule Them All.” Soca Sangria was the party that put all other fetes into perspective, as the Marketing Machine fully delivered on its promise of “pure sweetness.”
Held on November 2nd at the Coolidge Cricket Grounds, the event featured Trinidadian soca sensation Kes alongside Antigua’s very own Tian Winter and the Iconic Band.
Anyone in attendance would likely describe the experience as phenomenal. Here are just a few of the elements that made Soca Sangria stand out as a truly outstanding event:
Entertainment Value

When it comes to soca, it doesn’t get much better than Kes. The music has you dancing before the first lyric is even sung. The anticipation surrounding the band’s return—after a two-year hiatus—was heightened even more by the live performance of hit song “Cocoa Tea,” performed in Antigua for the first time. It was refreshing to see a band that hadn’t been in rotation during the summer Carnival season, bringing a fresh energy to a space that can easily feel repetitive.

Local favourite Tian Winter also delivered as expected. Even when rain fell during his set, he and his band didn’t miss a beat, keeping the crowd fully engaged.
The Deejays
Let’s not forget the deejays, who seemed to be well-briefed on the dos and don’ts of Soca Sangria—no long talking! Their music selection kept the easy-going vibes flowing all night, and you could literally dance the heels off your shoes from start to finish.
The Venue

The Coolidge Cricket Grounds has become a go-to venue for promoters, and Soca Sangria made excellent use of the space. With ample tents, lush décor, and a well-thought-out layout, the venue never felt overcrowded despite the impressive turnout. Multiple entry points also made moving around the grounds smooth and enjoyable.
The Food

The VIP experience maintained its integrity with a variety of food options that tasted just as good as they looked. While food may not be a priority at a party for everyone, quality cuisine can elevate an experience—and the sushi, shrimp pasta, and desserts were simply sublime. Good entertainment paired with good food is an unbeatable combination.
All in all, Soca Sangria was a top-tier event, and we the people are already looking forward to Part 2 in 2026.
